SOCIAL MEDIA

IS SOCIAL MEDIA KILLING YOUR SOUL?

(DUN DUN DUN!!!!)

Hello everyone! This topic this week really hits home for me this week. Social Media, the generation shift, the platform to elevate your business. Does it kind of feel more like the platform you’re wanting to jump off of? Ya, I feel you.

Let me tell you something, you absolutely cannot be expected to run a full eyelash clientele and then split your soul in half to give it your all on social media. Both categories require heart and soul. First things first, forgive yourself for being over social media. It’s a great tool, but overused or overstressed about, it becomes a double edge sword.

I want to give you a new way of looking at this platform if you are literally ready to quit the whole thing.

Our new formula is going to be define your mission, set goals to accomplish, do them, and the step back.

1. Define your mission. First off, identify what your social media is for. Are you trying to build a clientele, sell a product, sell a training, document memories? Whatever you mission is, set goals for them. I’m going to propose a crazy idea, and it’s YOUR NUMBER OF FOLLOWERS REALLY DOESN’T MATTER. Realize above I did not say one of your mission statements could be “gain more followers.” NO. Bad reader. Don’t focus on this. Focus on your mission.

2. Set goals. Once you have identified what you want your instagram to do, set goals to reach overall goals. Now I understand you’re probably thinking “I want a full clientele at my goal prices of $250 a full set” or “I want to go train every month of the year.” Guys these aren’t goals. These are college thesis-es. Set 1 month goals, heck even two week goals! “This month I will do a photoshoot of my lashes, edit and line them up on planoly to post 3-4 times a week. I will write one meaningful post a week and then use quotes I like. I will spend 1 full hour a day engaging with my followers” SEE THE DIFFERENCE?? Line up your posts on Planoly, and focus as much on engagement as your post content.

3.Do that. Seriously. Hold yourself accountable. Do what you can. If your “optimal post time” is 5pm, ignore your optimal post time because life is crazy at 5pm and posting and then ghosting will be as if you never posted. Make your post, and dedicate at least 20 minutes after the post was made to be active and engaged with comments and your followers!

4. STEP BACK! This one is the most important and I mean it. Once you have achieved a 2 week or month goal, step back. Delete the app, don’t open it, don’t compare yourself. Whether this just be a few days or a whole 2 weeks, don’t focus on social media. Keep working on product development, show the clients you do have your full love and attention, maybe work on templates for marketing, but DO NOT do anything on social media!

NOW! I reached this point in my career about 8 months ago, and I was literally DONE with my Instagram, until I hired an assistant and business coach. Because of the full clientele i nurtured and loved, I was able to financially hire out someone to help with content and posting and someone else to help me hown down on my business mission and goals! When you reach this step, I suggest hiring someone to help you run your business! Especially if you are selling product or trainings!

Be patient, be forgiving, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Give it time and show love to others and their missions. Realize once you’ve reached your goals, filled a training, gotten to a comfortable place with clients, you do NOT need to be on social media as much! Remember to take a break from all the noise to enjoy the silence when needed.

I DARE YOU TO TAKE A 1 DAY BREAK NEXT WEEK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA. DELETE IT ALL OFF YOU PHONE.  NOTICE HOW YOU FEEL AFTERWARDS.
