RETIRING AT 26
5 ITEMS THAT WILL HELP YOU NOT RETIRE AT AGE 26
DID YOU KNOW? The average lash artist retires at age 26. SURPRISED?? Are you really though? How do your wrists, back, eyes and neck feel.... Lashing is so not for the faint of heart.
However! Some brilliant people have created products that can help us stay lashing longer than the statistic says!
Some items I live and love by include...
A back brace: UGGO right? Well staying healthy is NEVER ugly. SugarLashPro has an amazing and simple back brace that will make all the difference. Use the brace while lashing to keep your spine straight and avoid the dreaded “hunch”. It also gently pulls your shoulders back, becoming tight under the armpits and across the chest when you hunch. Give your shoulders and spine the support they need, and keep your back happy for a long healthy career.
Heat compressions: To sooth my wrists and hands before and during work I do a lot of heat compression treatments, A.K.A. ebson salt with warm/hot water. Soak the wrists for 3-5 minute and then take out and massage one hand/wrist at a time or have someone do it for you. The warmth is really soothing. Allow those overworked joints to actually relax and feel better!
Yoga. Seriously I know you’re sick of hearing it, but have you tried it? Guys, nothing is better for improving flexibility, releasing tension and strengthening the core. Have you noticed your legs or lower back going numb? You could have a pinched disk or a tight hip flexor. Going to yoga will gently and efficiently relieve chronic pains, ground you mentally, and give you renewed energy throughout the day. It’s not easy, it’s not always convenient, but it is as necessary (if not more so) as a massage therapist or a chiropractor if you have reached that place of discomfort with your body.
Wrist brace: Who else has wrist pain?? Besides several helpful stretches, allowing any tendinitis that may have developed by overuse to decrease with a brace is essential. Continuous aggravation of the wrists can one day lead to arthritis and carpal tunnel. Obviously this means the end of your lash career. Use Icy Hot at night to help decrease swelling and purchase a wrist brace on amazon to keep the wrist mobility at a minimum. That lack of excessive moment will allow the wrist to slow heal on its own.
Water: This is a simple thing, but an underestimated tool. Water. Drink it. It helps with brain activity, energy levels, flushes out toxins, improves complexion, boosts immune system, prevents cramps and sprains...need I say more?? Make it goal to drink one bottle per client!! One bottle in 2-ish hours? You can do that.
Anyway!! Hope these helped! Be sure to be exercising regularly, to be eating things that give you energy, and using proper form when lashing to prevent further pain or injury! Hope these things help!
I DARE YOU TO DRINK 1 WATER BOTTLE A DAY. AFTER A WEEK BUMP IT UP TO TWO, WEEK AFTER THAT 3 AND SO ON. START SMALL AND GROW FROM THERE.
